Biography of Mike Moran

Deputy Chairman

Deputy chairman Mike Moran is primarily a lifelong learner – drawing upon observing and working with others in the fields of education and management. Starting his working life as a laboratory technician, Mike is somewhat proud of the fact that he has got thus far without ever taking a single A Level.

During a 22-year career in further education as a biology teacher and as manager of a large science department in Belfast, he worked on various examining teams for GCE – including as chief examiner.

After holding senior management positions within CCEA and the Open University in Ireland, and a couple more years with some live school students, Mike now works at Queen’s University, Belfast, supporting the development of e-learning in FE/HE as an adviser with the Regional Support Centre of Northern Ireland.
